You can send emails to any of the variations above and it will be delivered to the same inbox. Any number of periods ‘.’ can be used in the username section of gmail account and will result in email delivery in the same google account. This feature comes in handy when it comes to handing out your emails to filter out junk mail. username@gmail.com and username@googlemail.com would refer to the same google inbox.

You could also add anything after username+abcxyz@gmail.com and it would still be delivered to your own inbox. This could come in handy for giving out emails & setting up email filters such as [email protected] to anything related to clients.
